Incontinence

Bladder problems are an extremely common issue for many women. It is not normal to have leakage, and unfortunately many women put up with symptoms for many years before seeking help.

At OGB we have a dedicated continence nurse, Trish, who works closely with our doctors to provide assistance to women with incontinence. Whether its urinary leakage with coughing, sneezing, or exercise, or whether its an overactive bladder causing urgency and sometimes leakage, almost always we will be able to help you to improve.

We provide sophisticated bladder testing (Urodynamic testing) in the rooms, which is the best test to help us formulate a treatment plan for you. This testing would routinely be performed before most incontinence surgery, and before most prolapse surgery.

We also offer a day procedure for stress incontinence called a mid-Urethral Sling. It has proven over many years to have an excellent cure rate and a very low complication rate.  Over 1.3 million of these procedures have been performed worldwide. This procedure is suitable for the majority of women with stress incontinence.

To access this service you need to speak to your GP to discuss this, then, if required, make an appointment with one of our Gynaecologists. They will then arrange urodynamic testing and for you to make contact with Trish, our Urogynaecology nurse.
