Thankfully whooping cough is rare but recent studies have found that the vaccine is safe and effective during pregnancy and is now recommended from 30-32 weeks of pregnancy onwards.
The antibodies produced by the mother can be passed on to the baby during pregnancy giving the baby some protection until their first vaccination. Currently vaccinations can be sourced from your GP or council run vaccination services.
It’s almost flu season and all pregnant women are advised to have a flu vaccine, this can be arranged through your GP.
